Day 247

“My lips shall utter praise, when thou hast taught me thy statutes.”  (Psalms 119:171)

There is nothing quite like the moment you are reading the Scripture and God sheds light on It’s meaning through His Holy Spirit.  You know, without a doubt, that God has just spoken to your heart and you have understanding straight from Him.

It is a buoyant feeling isn’t it?  To know that God Himself has manifested Himself in your own personal life and taught you something!  It is such a glorious feeling that you want to shed it abroad by telling others how good God is and how He has helped you in a way that is without real explanation.

The psalmist is telling us this today.  He has heard the stories from others.  He has read the scrolls.  He has acknowledged that he believes in God, but the moment that God teaches him personally, well, that is a whole other story.  He wants to praise!

So, how does that practically apply to you and me today?

I’m glad you asked.

God is sitting with you this morning (or afternoon or evening) as you read His Word.  If you are saved, meaning you have repented and placed your faith in Christ Jesus and His death, burial, and resurrection as payment for your sins, then the Holy Spirit resides within you and HE is guiding you to all truth.  He is available to you and there to teach you….but you need to OPEN the Bible and READ IT.

That Book of All Books is not going to stand up on little leather legs and start preaching to you.  You need to walk over to It and open It’s pages and read.  And not only read, but ask God to give you understanding.  And not only ask for understanding, but when you learn and are taught of Him…..GO APPLY IT.

And just so it is said…..I am preaching to myself here.  I marvel at how soon I am removed from doing what is right sometimes.  But oh, how sweet it is to be reading along in the Word and God starts to speak to my heart.

Let’s dwell in Him, His Word and then let’s be sure to open our mouths and praise Him for His watchcare over our lives.

Until Next Time, Lord willing,

Sheri
