“MEM. O how love I thy law! it is my meditation all the day.” Psalms 119:97
Can’t you hear the love and excitement in the psalmist voice? If he had owned a copy of the entire Word of God, imagine what joy he would have felt to grasp it in his embrace?!
Think of something you really love.
I love my family, Brazil and my dogs, but I also REALLY enjoy collecting all of the Pioneer Woman stuff for the kitchen. (Today’s picture are things I received for my birthday) Man, I can stare at that stuff all day LONG! It is just beautiful. Mark and I may go into Walmart for some coffee creamer, but I will find an excuse to go down the kitchen aisle just so I can see the dishes, bowls, and accessories Ree Drummond has created. And usually😉I walk out without it. Oh, I have her cookbook, some bowls, and other things and I will continue to add to my collection, but it is all just stuff. I don’t look at it like I do this Black Scofield sitting on the table to my left. No, there is a difference in my definition of the word “love” when it comes down to it.
Ree Drummond may produce some pretty “things” but not one of them will help me through a heartache the way God’s Word has and will. Sure, the flowery iced tea pitcher is on my wish list, but it doesn’t come near to even ranking beside my Bible reading schedule. Why? Because there is life and there is REAL life.
Why waste time on what doesn’t matter and keep putting off what is going to follow you into eternity?
The psalmist has watched God and His law help sustain him through spiritual problems and battles with his enemies. He exclaims his love for It because It has proven True and Powerful in his life.
Let’s decide to dwell in God’s Word and meditate on It so that when the bad moments and the hard times come, we have more to sustain us than a beautiful glass of iced tea and a Pioneer Woman magazine!
The phone call, pink slip, heartache, disaster, and numb time is coming. Are you prepared? Do you LOVE His Word enough to make it first in your life? He has Already conquered it all….get to know Him.
“These things I have spoken unto you, that in me ye might have peace. In the world ye shall have tribulation: but be of good cheer; I have overcome the world.” John 16:33
Until Next Time, Lord willing,
