“I have seen an end of all perfection: but thy commandment is exceeding broad.” Psalms 119:96
The writer has made a pretty astute observation in this verse, wouldn’t you agree? Man and ANYthing that he produces is imperfect, but Word of God is forever and encompasses everything.
I had the privilege of visiting Rome a few years ago and I was able to take a bus over to Vatican City and see the Sistine Chapel and museum. I then took a bus just a little south and across the Tiber river to see the Colosseum. Both of these places reminded me that I have seen the lack of perfection in man’s ideals and belief systems. Although I relished seeing these ancient places of history, I also felt a profound sadness at their opposition to all the Bible and God offer to mankind.
Sin tries and succeeds at marring just about everything. You and I according to the Word of God are born into sin, so we are marred from the get go. Religions, businesses, places of education, etc. are all tainted by the imperfections that the devil and sin offer. You have seen it and I have seen it.
We have all watched preachers that we have esteemed fall from their positions, change their beliefs and be led astray by false doctrine. We have all seen world leaders succumb to the pressures put on them by other entities to change or create policies to benefit one pocket book or another. Wickedness sometimes seems to prevail and if that is all we look at and all we follow, our perspective will become very narrow and eventually come to an end.
Turn your eyes upon Jesus. Look full into His wonderful face. The things of this earth will grow strangely dim in the light of his Glory and Grace.
His Word has an answer to ALL of life and not just to the problems, but to what made those problems. God’s Word is where we can look to see the beginning of everything and see that there is no end of His encompassing power.
Religion has killed and slaughtered thousands of people, but God offers life. Religion has oppressed millions, but God offers freedom. Religion snuffs out expectations but God offers hope. Religion leads to vacant, empty ritual but God offers growth, comfort and peace.
Yes, we have seen the end of “perfection” of men, but if we choose to dwell in God’s Word we can see the vast scope of God’s Love, His Mercy and His Divine Power. It is broad and reaches out across the world to testify of Him to anyone who will lift their eyes and behold Him.
Read His Word today. Believe in His promises and don’t let the faults of man detract you from seeing the eternal goodness of God.
Whatever you are facing right now in your life may seem impossible. And guess what, with man it is! But my Bible says:
“And Jesus looking upon them saith, With men it is impossible, but not with God: for with God all things are possible.” Mark 10:27
Until Next Time, Lord willing,
