“All thy commandments are faithful: they persecute me wrongfully; help thou me.” Psalms 119:86
The psalmist is so relatable isn’t he? He writes two perfunctory statements in today’s verse and then a short prayer. You can almost hear him saying these things out loud as he looks towards the Heavens for help.
We have Three Things to think on today as we begin a new week:
- All of God’s commandments are faithful. That means they don’t change, waiver or weaken.
What God has said He will do; He will do.
“For I will be merciful to their unrighteousness, and their sins and their iniquities will I remember no more.” Hebrews 8:12
What He says He hates; He hates.
“These six things doth the LORD hate: yea, seven are an abomination unto him: A proud look, a lying tongue, and hands that shed innocent blood, An heart that deviseth wicked imaginations, feet that be swift in running to mischief, A false witness that speaketh lies, and he that soweth discord among brethren.” Proverbs 6:16-19
What He says He is; He is.
“Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.” Psalms 116:5
2. Persecution happens to those who follow after God’s Word. That means if you serve God, you should NOT be surprised when persecutions come your way. And they definitely shouldn’t cause you to quit!
“Remember the word that I said unto you, The servant is not greater than his lord. If they have persecuted me, they will also persecute you; if they have kept my saying, they will keep yours also.” John 15:20
3. Prayer doesn’t always have to be a scheduled, long, drawn out affair. That means when you need help — Cry out for help! Get specific and get down to business. The psalmist said all he needed to say in very few words. “Help thou me”.
I love it.
When you are about to fall or drop something, you don’t start a conversation with just anyone about anything…NO! You yell out, HELP!
So why not do this when you are in the heat of the battle?
Why not cry out, Help! When you are being tempted?
Maybe you don’t think God can do it?
“Wherefore, when I came, was there no man? when I called, was there none to answer? Is my hand shortened at all, that it cannot redeem? or have I no power to deliver? behold, at my rebuke I dry up the sea, I make the rivers a wilderness: their fish stinketh, because there isno water, and dieth for thirst.” Isaiah 50:2
“Behold, the LORD’S hand is not shortened, that it cannot save; neither his ear heavy, that it cannot hear:” Isaiah 59:1
“Fear thou not; for I am with thee: be not dismayed; for I am thy God: I will strengthen thee; yea, I will help thee; yea, I will uphold thee with the right hand of my righteousness.” Isaiah 41:10
His Word is True. Your enemies will come after you. You can call on God and TRUST in His power to help you!
Take this verse and dwell on it as you start this new week! You serve a GREAT big God, and He is MIGHTY to save.
Until Next Time, Lord willing,
