Day 124

“And I will delight myself in thy commandments, which I have loved.”  Psalms 119:47

One thing I wish I could get across to teenagers when I am teaching or counseling is the fact that when a life is given to God to do with as He pleases, there is a new found joy and courage to be had.

Someone painted a terrible picture of God when they said He is “the old man upstairs” or a God of only anger and judgment.  That is so one faceted.  It is true that God is the Judge:

“And he commanded us to preach unto the people, and to testify that it is he which was ordained of God to be the Judge of quick and dead.”  Acts 10:42

“And the heavens shall declare his righteousness: for God is judge himself. Selah.”  Psalms 50:6

And it is true that God can be angry:

“God judgeth the righteous, and God is angry with the wicked every day.”  Psalms 7:11

But God is also merciful, loving and longsuffering:

“Gracious is the LORD, and righteous; yea, our God is merciful.”  Psalms 116:5

“But God, who is rich in mercy, for his great love wherewith he loved us,”  Ephesians 2:4

“And the LORD passed by before him, and proclaimed, The LORD, The LORD God, merciful and gracious, longsuffering, and abundant in goodness and truth,”  Exodus 34:6

God is Holy and Just, and He provides us the way to fellowship with Him and take part in a life that can be lived in freedom, boldness and joy!

I know a young woman who fell prey to some people on the internet that advised her that the only way she could find peace was to cut herself every day.  I wept at the thought of the horrendous pain and SHAME it caused this girl.  Now she will live with the scars of that wrong advice forever.

God doesn’t offer us bondage.  God never makes us feel our service is shameful.  God never tells us to hide our Christianity.

Do you know who it is that whispers that stuff into your ears about shame, pain and bondage?  Satan.  The Devil.  Lucifer.  The Accuser.  The Enemy of all enemies.

When we give our life to God, we can delight in His Words and His calling on our lives.

Are you seeking joy and happiness?  Look no further than the Bible and follow what It teaches.

Are you tired of being a coward and hiding in the shadows because of sin whether yours or someone else’s that has effected your life?  Walk towards the Light of God’s Word, lay your life in His divine care and trust Him.

There really is peace to be found.  Not, prosperity and happy go lucky times, but a joy even when you are hanging on through a storm.  I don’t know any other way to get it across than to jump up and down, wave my arms and point you to your Bible and God.

Talk to Him.  Submit.  Find peace and delight in His Words like the psalmist did.  The alternative just leads to more despair and no one wants more of that in their lives.

Until Next Time, Lord willing,

Sheri
