“Grace be to you and peace from God the Father, and from our Lord Jesus Christ, Who gave himself for our sins, that he might deliver us from this present evil world, according to the will of God and our Father: To whom be glory for ever and ever. Amen.” Galatians 1:3-5
One selfless act.
An act performed in love that has the power to rescue and save ALL mankind.
Did you read the three little verses above from Paul’s letter to the churches of Galatia?
The Christians in the churches Paul was addressing had gotten away from the Truth. They were being influenced by false doctrine. Someone had come along and convinced them that they didn’t have to completely “dwell” in what Truth they had already been taught.
Isn’t that just how that old subtle serpent works in our lives even today?
The enemy loves to come up along side of a devoted Christian and whisper in their ear that they really don’t understand what the Bible says.
Combat that lie!
“Consider what I say; and the Lord give the understanding in all things.” II Timothy 2:7 (Paul speaking to Timothy).
Understanding comes from the Lord. And we can have it if we will take time to study His Word and ask Him to teach us.
“Let my cry come near before thee, O LORD: give me understanding according to thy word.” Psalms 119:169
The enemy loves to try and convince a Christian they don’t have to be radical about Jesus Christ because they will be offensive.
Combat that lie!
“Unto you which believe he is precious: but unto them which be disobedient, the stone which the builders disallowed, the same is made the head of the corner, And a stone of stumbling, and a rock of offense, even to them which stumble at the word, being disobedient: whereunto also they were appointed.” I Peter 2:7-8
The world and religion are already offended by Jesus Christ, not me personally.
And yet because He was lifted up, He draws all men to Him! (John 12:32) So my job is to be a light for Him in this present evil world! And that means I need to live radically for Him!
Radically – means in a thoroughly, complete manner.
I want to live my life thoroughly and completely for Christ. Don’t you?
There are examples after examples in God’s Word from which we can learn when it comes to this subject of leaving off God’s Way and His Truth. And within each example there is a place we see the enemy distorting what God REALLY said.
But, praise God, Jesus came to deliver us from this present evil world.
That is a Truth upon which you can stake your whole life!
But, let me ask you a question.
Are you learning His Truths?
I am not referring to reading the Bible.
I am talking about studying it.
Here are three simple questions that will help you study a passage in the Bible:
1. Who wrote it?
2. When was it written?
3. To Whom was it written?
Asking those three questions when you read will open a door for you to begin studying and gleaning more from His Word.
We can choose look around us and listen to the enemy’s lies and never truly dwell in the Lord.
We can live day after day after day desiring spiritual change, and never seeing it because we won’t dwell in His Word.
We can decide that TODAY we are going to bow our head over His Word and ask Him to teach us. Ask Him for understanding. Ask Him for help.
We can decide to dwell.
